New Dutch holiday report forecasts 12 trends
Although the number of holidays and the concomitant spending by the current crisis have fallen slightly, it is the firm conviction of Dutch travel research company NBTC-NIPO Research that the number of holidays will grow again in the future. The Dutch consumer is definitely not yet 'vakantiemoe’ – tired of holidays. The interpretation of holidays will however change in the years to come, as is stated in its latest holiday trend report. In addition to trends, the report also focuses on a number of myths in the holiday market which are:' Interior holidays: a poor man's holiday ', 'a rainy summer leads to an exodus abroad’ and 'Women decide on the holiday destination'.
In the holiday trend report, the following twelve trends are forecast:
1. The growing importance of holidays
2. More and more foreign holidays
3. More shorter trips during the year
4. Tailor-made holidays increasingly important
5. Increase in last-minute holiday booking
s6. Increased use of mobile Internet
7. New ways of traveling: social travelling
8. Travel behaviour becomes more varied
