13% More visitors Dutch Holiday Fair Vakantiebeurs
The Dutch tourism industry seems to be getting back on track. This year's Vakantiebeurs saw a significant increase in the number of visitors resulting in a total number of over 117.000, which is a plus of 13 percent in comparison to last year.
A survey under visitors during the Holiday Fair showed several trends and developments. Within Europe Italy, France and Germany/Spain were mentioned as the top 3 popular holiday destinations and luxury accommodations are the trend for this year's holiday. Visitors said that their spending during their holiday will be approximately €3300,- per person this year. This is almost an increase of 30% compared to last year. Hopefully these figures indicate that the end of the financial crisis is near.
For intercontinental destinations visitors the list was topped by Asia, followed by the US/Canada, Africa, Central- and South America and the Caribbean.
Most Dutch holidaytakers go on a holiday more than once a year, therefore the main reason for their visit to the Holiday Fair is getting inspiration, gathering information, selecting their next holiday and to enjoy a day out.
This year, the Vakantiebeurs introduced a new set-up. Visitors were invited to the areas 'Active', 'See', 'Sail', 'Discover', 'Together' and 'Outdoor'. This set-up created a clear overview of all the participants.
